Mehmed Shevki Efendi (1829 – 1887), known simply as Shevki Efendi, was one of the most influential classical Ottoman calligraphers and many believe he brought both naskh and thuluth scripts to perfection.
His model book is considered the best books for learning and practising the two scripts and it is used by majority of calligraphy masters in their classes.
After introduction in English, French, Turkish and Arabic, the book follows the usual format of mashq books and presents the individual letters, letter combinations, words and phrases as prepared by Shevki for his students to copy.
Outer lines on each page present thuluth, inner lines naskh script.
