This double sided writing mat for Arabic calligraphy is made from faux leather. It is black on one side, red on the other.
Placing semi soft surface under the paper when writing eases pressure on the wrist by lessening the friction and freeing hand movement. It also slows the writing down giving better control of the stroke and lessens pressure on the pen nib.
