Javi pens
This highly popular type of pen, made from a type of thorn grass, is relatively new in the world of Arabic calligraphy. It was introduced by Javanese pilgrims to Mecca in the beginning of 19th century and quickly gained reputation for its ability to retain sharpness even after prolonged use. It is frequently noted, that one of the great Ottoman calligraphers Hasan Riza Efendi was able to copy the entire Qur’an in on a single cut of his java Qalam.
Available in sizes from 1.5 to 7 mm and also for left handed calligraphers.
